1. Infective causes 

  • Brucella spp.
  • Coxiella burnetti 
  • Chlamydia spp 
  • Prior antibiotic therapy 
  • Mycoplasma spp
  • Legionella spp 
  • Histoplasmosis 
  • Tropherema whipelli 
  • Fungi 
  • HACEK: Hemophilus, Actinobacillus, Cardiobacterium, Eikenella, Kingella
  • Bartonella

2. Non-infective causes:

  • SLE (Libmann-Sacs)
  • Marantic endocarditis
